This project consisted of a bollard installation in Charlotte to replace an old one which had been damaged and repaired multiple times. It was originally installed by another contractor at a depth of 1′, which was not deep enough. To top it off, the bollard is located on the corner of a mini-storage building, where many people are navigating the parking lot with trucks and trailers, making it very likely to be backed into or swiped. Because it was not put in at the correct depth, it kept getting knocked down. In fact, the client had called us to repair this particular bollard before!
This time we were able to completely replace the bollard. We installed the new one at a depth of 3′ underground and 4’ above ground. It is set in a hole that is at a minimum of 18” in diameter, which is per local code for proper installation of a 6” diameter bollard.
