Clear-View, Inc. recently completed a trench drain replacement project at American Airlines’ facility in Charlotte, NC, near the aircraft wash bay. The existing 6-inch trench drain had failed, creating drainage problems and a potential safety hazard in an area where aircraft and heavy equipment operate.
To restore proper drainage and improve safety, our team removed the existing trench drain and installed a new, heavy-duty system designed to withstand demanding airport operating conditions.
Excavation and Trench Drain Replacement
The project began with the excavation and removal of the failed trench drain. Our team saw-cut the surrounding concrete to a depth of 10 inches to create the space needed to retrofit the new trench drain into the excavated area.
Once the new drain was properly installed, we poured 5,000 PSI concrete and finished the surrounding surface to provide a durable, stable installation built for long-term performance.
Built to Handle Heavy Loads
Because this trench drain is located near an active aircraft wash bay, durability and load capacity were essential. The replacement trench drain is rated to support 200,000 pounds, allowing aircraft and heavy equipment to operate around the drain without compromising its structural performance.
The completed installation provides improved drainage, addresses the safety concerns associated with the failed system, and delivers a heavy-duty solution suited to the demanding environment of an airport facility.
